A SPECIAL GARDEN........... PART TWO OF GARDENS THIS WEEK.

AS SOON AS I GET OUT OF THE CAR I FEEL SO AT HOME IN THIS GARDEN.....THIS IS HOW GARDENS SHOULD MAKE YOU FEEL....... LIKE THESE COMFY CHAIRS.

Garden design....what should it have......I'll tell you right now.... rooms...rooms...nooks....cosy sitting spots....secret little spots...sunny spots....hidey holes....shady reading spots. Even if you don't have a large garden you can still create that special little area. Our lovely friends R & M have designed and I don't even like to use that word..... an oasis of ....... "there is nothing outside these gates" type of garden. You arrive and feel cocooned....enveloped..... I feel like a fairy, as I go from room to room visiting all the plant inhabitants.

Just like homes, you see some gardens in the glossy mags and they can be so over styled. You then ask yourself.....do people actually use them, entertain and play in them?

Beautiful on the surface but does it invoke your inner spirit and lifestyle?

What is it about this garden that captures my heart? Things aren't perfect, it's comfortable.....it's lived in, a comfy pair of slippers. The lawn isn't mown to within an inch of its life, there is even the occasional weed, plants are left to go to seed. Don't get me wrong it's not an overgrown mess, but a true, true cottage garden. I adore this garden!

To see it on a late Spring afternoon with a glass of wine in hand....wandering through was such a treat  and I hope you will enjoy the pics as much as I had taking them.

LAVENDER AND THE CERISE COLOURED LYCHNIS

LAVENDER AND THE CERISE COLOURED LYCHNIS

None of the bland non-scented roses that you see so much of today.... that are just bred for hardiness. Here you will inhale the sweetest of scents and be transported to another time....

"Love in the Mist" Nigella, Columbines....

Frothy Snow in Summer- Cerastium.... cascading over this rock wall.

Another gate.....another secret lunch spot.....beautiful dappled sunshine....

Lime green Euphorbia adding to the coolness above a pond.

The promiscuous Aquilegia or Granny's Bonnet......

That just loves to intermingle with other colours to create the most beautiful of blends.

Leisurely long lunches under the trees....

More importantly the house shows the joy and love of their garden.......flower arrangements....abundant displays of fruit and rare and unusual pot plants .... the garden and the house are in perfect harmony.

A true home........... warmth...hospitality are in abundance.

I hope I captured what it is that I feel in this truly special place.........and that you enjoyed the visit.

Thank you R & M
