WORKSHOP ZHOOZING..............

The lovely Brooke from Mr and Mrs Munro held a Succulent Wreath Making Workshop on Saturday........ and as I was the host and cook for the day, thought I would show you a few behind the scene pics on getting things zhoozed up.

In the kitchen, I always have lovely big bunches of herbs and edible flowers for scattering on platters and salads.

Colourful fresh fruit and seasonal vegetables on display always make a kitchen look inviting to me.

I try to pick whatever is in flower in the garden, bringing the outside in.........white icebergs ...add some star jasmine.

A Hydrangea flower, separated and placed into tiny glass phials on a silver tray, this is my favourite at the moment....one simple spray of Queen Annes Lace in a chemistry flask sits pretty on a small table in the guest bathroom. It's a star!

Foliage......I always forget to use foliage......it can be just as effective as a bunch of flowers, freshening up a corner or a sideboard. Here we have smoke bush and oak branches. You may have noticed I have an obsession...no a love for many different shapes of vases, jugs etc.

Today's idea for tablescaping, I thought small sprigs of fresh Bay leaves tied with strips of hessian. Little gifts for our ladies to take home and dry......and I hope a reminder of their day at A Year In My Garden. The small succulents that I planted in my mini logs are now flowering and were the feature centrepieces.

Flowering Dogwood............. this was foraged nearby......yes foraged.... Colin

Brookes beautiful hanging lampshade swinging in the trees...colourful paper origami birds fluttering in the breeze....chooks underfoot clucking contentedly.....

Individual Wreath Making boxes for the girls.....fresh lemony water on tap....

Now we are ready to begin our class......

Vine wrangling........... some more flamboyant than others.....

ON THE MENU TODAY

Now it's over to me............

Over a nice glass of wine everyone gets to know one another better............

Then it's back to some serious Wreath Making..........they are now taking shape.

Just fantastic ladies!

Loved the colour......Jodie from Button Up Designs is a self proclaimed crazy button hoarder and resin obsessed designer. She holds workshops regularly and is a gorgeous gal! Check out what she does.

As the afternoon winds up......there's one more thing left to do......

Afternoon tea of course...............

So there you have it! A little snapshot of what goes on behind the scenes in "setting the mood" for a workshop.......or a lunch, or a dinner.... anything really. Flowers, seasonal food and a welcoming smile is a recipe for making your guests feel special.

Let me know what you do to make your friends feel right at home.....
