APHIDS HAVE DESCENDED ON THE ROSES ......HERE IS A QUICK NON-TOXIC RECIPE THAT I USE TO GET RID OF THEM.
Most people have a rose or two in their garden and most people would have probably seen these annoying bugs.......
They eat young shoots and just adore flower buds. Aphids suck out the plant's juices, which can result in deformed buds. You can blast them with a strong jet of water from your hose! Or if you have a lot of roses, the recipe below is a good one to have on hand. I try to keep chemicals in the garden at a minimum. Not just for my health but the health of the "good bugs" ie bees
1 tablespoon dishwashing liquid
1 litre warm water
Mix and spray straight onto the rose buds.
A few days later this is what the aphids will look like......
When you have yummy fresh buds and the right weather conditions......Aphids will move right on in.
If you don't feel like mixing things up and just want to grab something off the shelf and it's "green friendly" a product by Yates called Natures Way Insect & Mite Killer Natrasoap is by far the next best thing.
These were last seasons roses.....not an Aphid in sight.
Do you have a non chemical recipe that you use in the garden? Would love you to share.....
