WE WENT ON A VERY SPECIAL WALK YESTERDAY AFTERNOON.....

After spending most of the day cleaning and doing general catch up stuff around the place, it was time to stretch the legs and go for a stroll. We love to go exploring and the village of Robertson has some interesting places to visit. I had been told, a must see place was Robertson Cemetery. I don't know about you but we have always been fascinated with old cemeteries.  The history of them ...wondering what kind of lives they had....why they passed away....old age..sickness...childbirth.....

Just us..... perfect......We had no idea how far the cemetery was and it didn't really matter.

This was the vista that opened up as we walked along the path, typical Southern Highlands farmland.

As we walked up, I could not believe the view that greeted us. I had goosebumps.... There was such a peacefulness all around........

This was the sweetest little child's grave that had an ornate wrought iron canopy. I had never seen one as unusual as this. When I see a small child's grave, I can't even imagine the pain that would have been felt by the family. You see so many in these older cemeteries.

The patina and moss growing on the old headstones only add to the beauty of them.

We will be coming back again I am sure.....

As we headed back the clouds were building up and the sun was just peeking along the edges. I didn't feel sad, just retrospective. I felt that the people laid to rest here, were at peace and in the most beautiful of places.

Do you visit old Cemeteries? You may think it's scary or morbid.
