LIMONCELLO...NOW FOR THE FUN PART.

REMEMBER 6 WEEKS AGO I SAID THAT I MUST BE PATIENT....WELL TODAY IS THE DAY THAT WE GET TO FINISH OFF OUR LIMONCELLO. YESSSS!

Just to refresh your memory and mine..... LIMONCELLO RECIPE . The lemon peels that I placed in that large jar have been steeping away nicely..... and, I am sure, having a party in that Vodka for about 6 weeks. Every week I would lovingly swirl the jar around willing the lemon peels to infuse and permeate into the Vodka....occasionally I would say ciao or mio caro to the jar. Thinking I was somehow back in Sorrento or sun baking on the Amalfi. That's what Limoncello does to you! (Well to me anyway)

Stir together water and sugar in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat, until sugar is completely dissolved. Let sugar mixture cool completely.

In a fine mesh sieve strain lemon peels out of the vodka mixture and discard peels.

Stir in sugar syrup into the vodka. Line the strainer with a coffee filter or muslin cloth and pour the Limoncello through. Repeat this process 2-3 more times until Limoncello is clear.

Limoncello....keeps colds at bay and its the perfect flu fighter. All that vitamin C!

Purely medicinal in this household.... ;)

It is wonderful as a palate cleanser or as an after dinner drink. I keep my bottles of Limoncello in the freezer until ready to serve. The perfect summer apertivo........refreshing, and I dare you to stop at one. ...just bellissimo.

I have all manner of odd bottles in my cupboard......perfect Limoncello vessels.

They make lovely little gifts for people, ......that's if you want to give any away.

So there you have it...sweet and luscious with a little kick on the back of your palate. Bright yellow sunshine in a shot glass.

Amo Limoncello!

Have you ever tried Limoncello? Does a special sip of a liqueur transport you to a faraway holiday that you have been on?
