A couple of days ago, Arth and I went out for a spur of the minute lunch to the Wharf Rd restaurant in Nowra. Big glass windows overlooking the Shoalhaven River....cool furnishings...and a deck area to lounge on with a crisp Reilsing as you looked straight out over the water.
It all paled into insignificance as soon as our salad arrived..... it became the star of the show.
The salad had it all in my books.
It got me thinking.....I generally do the garnish thing and always have lots of herbs on hand but to be totally honest rarely have I made a salad that looked like the one we had.
The next day, off I trotted into the garden, and in a short space of time, this is what I found flowering right this very minute. I couldn't believe how many edible flowers we have.
ALIUM, ROCKET FLOWERS, DAISYS, NASTURTIUMS, PANSYS, MUSTARD FLOWERS, BLOSSOMS, PARSLEY FLOWERS, THYME FLOWERS, DANDELION, VIOLAS.
Just some flowers that you can use in salads, drinks and tarting up a plate.
I thought why not pretty up my herbal tea this morning with some floating little blossoms served in a proper cup and saucer. Instead of gulping it down standing up.... I sat outside and savoured every drop.
It was an unusually warm afternoon.....
An iced ginger tea with slices of pear and a sprig of thyme.
Lilac infused cream......
I probably wouldn't eat the sprig of Lavender, but how good does that look!
Next time I will think twice about getting rid of all the Dandelion in the lawn!
Little tiny Allium flowers look so delicate when you pick them individually and different coloured Nasturtiums add the wow factor.
