HOT WEATHER = COCKTAIL HOUR
Most people know I am a big fan of my red wine but when that temperature hits 30 odd degrees.....time to get the Pimm's out and make a refreshing, icy, thirst quenching (without getting you too inebriated) drink.
PIMM'S (4 nips that's my ratio)
LOTS OF ICE
BIG SPRIGS OF FRESH MINT
I'm feeling cooler already......
Don't forget the ice.....
Grab a jug.....place all the ingredients in, add lots and lots of ice....stir...say cheers with a few friends....ahhhhh....then kick back.
If you don't like ginger beer go for soda water and maybe try some different fruit....I popped in some Nectarine slices in the last batch I made.
Here's another thing we enjoy when we don't feel like cooking.....
Prawn Cocktail to go with our cocktails...
I popped into one of our local shops.....The Picnic Shed which is in the lovely village of Berry, on the South Coast. It's styled beautifully and there were just so many gorgeous items to choose from.
How chic are those planter labels...and you can never have enough twine...
Now this we need....our compost/chook scrap bin gets a bit stinky sometimes and I love how this has a lid (to keep the odours in) and you can easily carry it out to the girls.
Cushions.....galore...one can never have enough cushions
Something for everyone.... and when you're done shopping, pop in next door to the Berry Sour Dough Cafe for some excellent coffee, pastries, bread, and their lunch menu is just delicious. The bonus for me ......super friendly staff.
On another note if you join Diggers Club you get free seeds four times a year...join!!
I had to show you the extent of my Christmas decorating this year.....
Christmas bush and two pine cones....
We are off to Bali!!!
I think this is the first time where we have not had christmas at our place and it feels so strange to not be caught up in the whole christmas frenzy of preparations. No ham ordering, no turkey, no trifle, no pudding, no cutting down of chrissy tree, no decorating, no going through 50 cookbooks for ideas on salads/canapes, and what about ROCKY ROAD CHRISTMAS CONES....recipe is still up if you need it. Dad will be so upset!
AND YES IT ALSO FEELS SO LIBERATING!!!
Don't get me wrong I totally LOVE christmas, it's a huge day/week for our family...that's why I'm feeling just a little bit guilty.
I know I'll miss the family all getting together, but I think getting away and escaping the whole hoopla will be really interesting. Has anyone else done this? Gone away with friends and left family behind for christmas. I wonder how I will be on the day......
My photography side can't wait!
Lastly I would like to wish everyone a most beautiful Christmas.....wherever you may be.
Love from Jools, Arth, Pierre and of course Santa!
