Last weekend we had a few people around at our place for drinks and a casual bbq. I posted a few pics up on Facebook of our night around the outside brazier. One of the things that I trotted out, was some deliciously warming mulled wine..... When was the last time you had mulled wine? For me, well that would be late 80's. Since I don't go skiing anymore, mulled wine has not crossed my path or entered my thoughts. After that post I had quite a few people ask me for the recipe......so here it is.
1 bottle red wine - fruity one is best
2 cinnamon sticks
10 or so cloves
6 or so allspice berries
1/4 cup sugar
Slices of orange
Everyone has their own taste on how they like drinks. You can adjust this recipe to your taste. Add a few drops of cinnamon and orange oil to make even more fragrant.
Tie spices up in a muslin cloth
Pour wine, stir in sugar, place muslin and orange slices in a saucepan.
Simmer for about 20 minutes.
