WHEN THE GARDEN IS A BIT LIGHT ON IN THE FLOWER DEPARTMENT......

HOW ABOUT SOME INTERESTING FOLIAGE IDEAS.

A YEAR IN MY GARDEN FOLIAGE STYLING

Autumn foliage always adds that big splash of colour...

Not much happening in the garden.... didn't have time to get to the shops and buy a bunch of flowers....how about using different kinds of foliage.

Use whatever you can find around the backyard/garden.... you will be so surprised when you start looking at what you can create.

The Aeonium arboreum always need a bit of a prune and rather than throwing them in the compost... pop them in a vase or vases with some water and you will find that they last for ages.  Really handy when you are busy with work and don't have the time to be refreshing flowers all the time.

A YEAR IN MY GARDEN SUCCELENTS

I really enjoy all forms of succulents, they look good in almost any container. This one is potted up and just as long as it gets lots of light it will perform well. If you don't have lots of sunlight streaming into your house try and air them (not in direct sunlight) at least once a week. Otherwise they will start to look sick and rangy.

A YEAR IN MY GARDEN FOLIAGE

Spathiphyllum or the peace lily always looks elegant.

A YEAR IN MY GARDEN FOLIAGE PLANTS

2 weeks and still looking fresh.

This vase is now in the bathroom and we are up to week 3.

A YEAR IN MY GARDEN FOLIAGE PLANTS

Even the Kentia palm gets a look in.....

A YEAR IN MY GARDEN succulent PLANTS

This rusty old urn has had so many things potted up in it......pansies, petunias and now a hardy water wise succulent.

A YEAR IN MY GARDEN PLANTS FLOWERS

How about mixing some lime green geranium foliage with a mix of random flowers......guest bathroom never looked so pretty.

I hope you have been inspired to get out there and start experimenting.

Let me know what you have tried....
