IT'S TIME FOR THE CAMELLIAS TO SHINE IN THE GARDEN

CAMILLIAS

A YEAR IN MY GARDEN CAMILLIAS

ELEGANT...HARDY... THERE IS A POSITION IN MOST GARDENS TO PLANT ONE OR TWO.

I haven't had much time to get out in our "borrowed" garden, we have been way too busy at the new house with the renovation and of course gardening there.  So this morning I thought I would take some time out and show you some of the spectacular varieties of camellias that are flowering right now... my apologies for not giving you the names of them, wish I could but no tags.

If you are a flashy gardener and don't mind a bit of hot hot pink then this one is for you.

Or how about blush pink on the outer edges.....

This camellia has that dusty old fashioned pink look about it....perfect for an older style home....

Sasanqua camellias are perfect for hedging, are more drought tolerant, tolerate full sun and will form a dense evergreen hedge 2-3m tall in three to five years. The beauty also is unlike murraya or photonia hedges you don't have to prune every 5 minutes.

Do you like a bit of a frill......I just adore this one.

Best time to plant is autumn to winter, but don't worry you can plant all year round. You just have to make sure you keep the water up to them while they are establishing their root system.

Also, don't be fooled by their delicate look they are quite drought tolerant once established.

I wish I could take all of them with me.........

What's your favourite camellia?
