I will start off with my little corner of sanity....white walls no dust...no mess!
Move forward a week, roses are gone and this is our kitchen....try not to notice the bottles of alcohol at the back or my vitamin B's (anti-stress) which I am guzzling at the moment. Or the 2 minute noodles when I am desperate for something quick and EASY!
The whole house is covered with these plastic drop sheets..... looks like something out of E.T. If I could hermetically seal things I would. But they do work a treat!
With the stunning weather we have been having, nothing like a fry-up. Have you ever fried feta?
Rudolf (Nureyav) 'cause of those gorgeous legs...
Helps with the drying up!
And why is this door so important?? I am finally getting a REAL bathroom door. Privacy is pretty much zero and with a site full of blokes...... I'll let you fill in the gaps.
Even though this is our own home, sharing the garage toilet with 5 men feels just like going to a public toilet and for a germ phobic like me....
Hurry up Alex and finish sawing that door down!!!
Wondering what this is? Our neighbour popped over the other afternoon and offered to mow our lawns. YES PLEASE! Do you have any idea how good that made us feel...... at the end of a hard day, me covered in paint, Arth hobbling around because he trod on a massive nail...it was just what we needed emotionally and physically.
Random acts of kindness.... there is nothing like it in the whole wide world.
Thank you Angus....
This year we did not celebrate Greek Easter like we normally do, so for me it was a bit of a sad time. Our family could not come down here and we just couldn't take the time out to drive all the way up the coast. We are both feeling unbelievably tired and I suppose looking at all the "crap" around us does not help at all. I honestly don't know how people can renovate for years...
Then we have pangs of "have we done the right thing" and I say "we" because it's normally me that's the stress merchant. But after a glass of wine, sitting by the bbq at night, we talk, de-brief and always know that whatever happens we have each other and do you know what....there are a hell of a lot worse things out there than a small renovation....
Tomorrow is a new day...
BROWN is not my favourite colour and this slow combustion wood heater just had to have a makeover. Sort of like a spray tan but in black and white. We were just going to get rid of it (Gumtree).... a quick spray job and it has now come up to our colour standards. Chimney is getting a makeover as we speak!
I spend so much time at Bunnings, especially in the paint paraphernalia department. Always looking at different brushes, paint pads, rollers for doors and walls etc etc. Arth has to drag me out. I figure anything to make my job easier...quicker. The stuff I have learnt!
Did you know (I didn't) that rollers have different naps..read this "For Dummies" on paint rollers.
If you are thinking of painting, Haymes have a cash back special on at the moment check it out here.
The other bonus - their paints have very little odour and a very low VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) less toxic ingredients.
Don't be fooled by the smile.... I really do hate painting!
TIPS FOR THE WEEK
- DON'T TREAD ON NAILS...SERIOUSLY, IF THERE ARE PILES OF TIMBER LAYING AROUND FLIP THEM OVER OR PULL THE NAILS OUT. I KNOW IT'S A NO BRAINER BUT.....
- TAKE LOTS OF VITAMIN B
- IF YOU HAVE NEVER DONE A PARTICULAR TYPE OF DIY....DO YOUR RESEARCH
- MAKE SURE YOUR TOOLS ARE NICE AND SHARP- BLUNT TOOLS ARE DANGEROUS
- CHARGE THOSE DRILL BATTERIES OVERNIGHT
My other neighbours....
How was your week?
