I am going to confess something to you......I'm a collector....shells...branches...seed pods...wire.
I love nothing more than to rummage in a big dairy or farm shed, finding all sorts of rusty forgotten "bits"..... wondering what uses they had when they were bright shiny and new.
I'm always carrying something into the house or ringing my husband to bring the car and help me with a larger find.
With this came an idea.........
I would like to introduce you to my talented husband, who doesn't like having his photo taken. Arthur has finally found time and the right headspace to get back to his creative and artistic self. He paints, draws and now is creating a series of works titled "WIRED". Centered on "found objects" which have otherwise been discarded or overlooked, in an effort to revitalise their value and meaning.
New Years resolution for 2017 - forget the get fit, drink less, become a vegetarian - this year it's going to be about creating and for me going back to study. YIKES!......and excited at the same time.
Rebirth and Shell
Magnolia seed pods combined with a bleached white oyster shell. Symbolising combination of land and sea.
A contradiction in terms. As the elements combine to create a useful object.
Combination of old and new technologies brought together in a fresh and different form.
This follows our journey through life. At the top we see the start of our journey…new and small. The middle reflects the time in life when all things are testing. And the third the final freedom as we move on to a new beginning.
Arthur Griffiths is currently exhibiting at (click on The Woolshed link for details)
Would love to see you there........
